Field of Dreams: Beloved Baseball Field in Pacific Palisades Faces Fence Controversy
by Lainie Citron on August 23, 2011The Field of Dreams is a wonderful set of pristine, manicured baseball fields. Freshly cut grass and amenities that many high school baseball programs would envy. For those not playing though, the fence surrounding the field is a source of great frustration.
The field costs thousands of dollars per year to maintain for baseball season. It is a source of community pride and the jewel of the local recreation center. The TBall, 5 pitch and PPBA baseball programs are a thriving hub of activity at the Field of Dreams. Local residents have argued against the fence surrounding the field, complaining it is elitist and does not allow joggers, animal lovers and local residents equal access to a public park.
4th of July in the Palisades: Race, Parade, Fireworks and a Full Day of Family Fun
by Lainie Citron on June 29, 2011We have lived in the Palisades for 10 years and I look forward to the 4th of July every year. My husband grew up here and I love to listen to him and his friends tell stories of past 4th of July celebrations and what is fascinating is that the activities haven’t changed much at all.
This year the day starts with the 32nd Annual Will Rogers 5 and 10k races. Give yourself plenty of time to find parking as there are 2500 runners; several of the roads are closed and there are a lot of people there so parking is really challenging. If you can walk from your house, that is the easiest thing to do.
