Sugar, Sugar: Every Recipe has a Story: Local Duo Pen Delicious Cookbook
by Lainie Citron on August 16, 2011Native Palisadean, Kimberly “Momma” Reiner and her partner, fellow Angeleno, “Momma Jenna” Sanz-Agero have come together to preserve America’s best sugary recipes and tell the stories behind them.
As I stood in “Momma Reiner’s” kitchen sipping one of the best iced cappuccinos I’ve ever had, that she whipped up effortlessly, I realized this is no ordinary cook book. The goal was simple: to start a recipe revolution. The “Mommas” wanted to gather sweet recipes that had been passed down from generation to generation before they were lost.
Beech Street Café: A fun Spot in the Palisades to Pop in and Grab a Pizza
by Lainie Citron on July 19, 2011Beech Street Café is a fun, family oriented local restaurant. The food is great, the staff is friendly, prices are reasonable and they offer good sized portions and a fun time for all.
The pizzas are great and topped with the freshest ingredients. The salads are fun and creative as well. The New York Chopped is my favorite, but I also love their house salad because it’s made with organic mixed greens, goat cheese, pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes and balsamic dijon vinaigrette. It is a nice twist on the standard “house salad”. I’ve never had any their pastas, but from the reviews I have read, they sound great too. Beech Street also has a nice wine list and for dessert, they have delicious cupcakes which are always a crowd pleaser with the kids.
